An inside look at Bonnyville's Hive for youth

The Hive cracked open its doors on Thursday to allow the numerous sponsors and community members to check out the Bonnyville facility that offers an assortment of activities and services for all Lakeland youth between 14 and 21.

BONNYVILLE - The Hive Youth Hub located on Bonnyville's main street is a safe and inclusive space that offers an assortment of activities and services for all Lakeland youth between 14 and 21.

On Oct. 25, the Hive was cracked open for the numerous sponsors to check out the facility that has been utilized by youth 539 times between June and September. The youth hub officially opened on June 1.

Throughout Thursday evening, both sponsors and community members were invited to tour the facility during the Hive's open house. 

While provincial and federal grants helped open the Hive's doors earlier this year, moving forward local support will be the cornerstone of keeping the youth hub operational for years to come.

Attendees had the opportunity to get an up close look at the resources available at the Hive. Spaces available to teens and young adults include the Youth Café, computer lab, medical office for walk in appointments, therapy room, lounge area, kitchen, creative space for art, fitness studio, Zen Den and a Foosball and games area.

Also on display was the floor plans for the Hives phase two expansion, which includes the installation of an industrial kitchen with multiple cooking stations and a flex dining area among other additions.

Once the entire building has been fully renovated, the Hive Youth Hub with host a Grand Opening, not to be confused with last weeks open house.
