ASHMONT – A car roared, summoning an ever-growing cloud of smoke until it was completely obscured from the cheering audience. When the smoke settled, the smell of fume and rubber stretched throughout.

A car show was held in Ashmont on June 15, which included a burnout competition. Over 35 cars - both older and newer models - were showcased in the event.

The event was meant to bring the community together, according to Brandon Hedrick, a co-organizer of the car show.

He expressed his gratitude for those who came out to support the event, "putting money back in the community and donating to families in need."

Hedrick explained that this year, the car show served to help fundraise for an eight-year-old boy from Bonnyville with a brain tumour. The tumour has been removed, but the boy is still in recovery.
