Attached garage catches fire in Glendon

Fire crews from Glendon and Bonnyville battled a blaze that broke out in an attached garage in the Village of Glendon in the early hours of Friday, June 17.

GLENDON – Just after midnight on Friday morning, Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA) crews received a call of a structure fire in the area of 51 Ave. along Pyrogy Drive North in Glendon.

When firefighters from Station 3 Glendon responded at 12:39 a.m. on June 17, they found an attached garage fully involved in fire.

“Crews ensured that no one was inside and made entry (into the home) to stop the spread of fire through the attic,” stated Regional Fire Chief Dan Heney.

About 10 minutes later, members from Station 5 Bonnyville responded at the scene to support their fellow firefighters battling the blaze at 12:50 a.m.

“Although the home did not completely burn down, it is expected to be a total loss,” noted the regional fire chief.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is not currently deemed to be suspicious in nature.”
