Bonnyville and Elk Point suspects arrested for drug and weapons possession

Three people from the Elk Point and Bonnyville area have been arrested following an execution of a search warrant resulting in several weapons and drug-related charges.

Three people from the Elk Point and Bonnyville area have been arrested following an execution of a search warrant resulting in several weapons and drug-related charges.

BONNYVILLE – A man wanted on multiple outstanding warrants was located in a residence in the Town of Bonnyville by RCMP on Feb. 8. 

Bonnyville RCMP and General Investigations Section (GIS), along with the Lakeland RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, obtained a search warrant for the residence and during the execution of the search warrant several individuals were arrested.

"The investigation occurred on Feb. 8 and extended past midnight into Feb. 9," RCMP Cpl. Shawn Morgan confirmed to Lakeland Today

A firearm, a collapsible baton, and a throwing knife were located at the residence, according to police. As well, six grams of suspected methamphetamine and a small quantity of suspected psilocybin mushrooms was found.

Kristopher Funk, 41, and Charlene Odynski, 34, both of Elk Point, and Jennifer Furry, 29, of Bonnyville are facing several charges related to drug and weapons offenses.  

All three have been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, careless use of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. 

Funk is further charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and unsafe storage of a firearm. 

Furry and Odynski were released from custody with conditions and are scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on March 22. 

Following a judicial hearing, Funk was released with conditions and is also scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on March 1st. 

RCMP will not be releasing any further information related to the incident as the matter is before the court.
