BONNYVILLE – Between 9 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. on Jan. 3, Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BFRA) volunteers respond to one vehicle rollover, two motor vehicle collisions and a request for medical assistance within the MD of Bonnyville.

In a statement, BRFA Regional Fire Chief Dan Heney confirmed four separate incidents that BFRA crews had responded to earlier that same day.

At 9 a.m., Station 5 Bonnyville and Station 6 La Corey responded to a Vac truck rollover 2 km up the road toward IOR Nabiye, an Imperial Oil plant worksite.

“Occupants were assessed by EMS but not transported (to hospital),” stated Heney. “Contents of the truck needed to be offloaded prior to tow trucks being able to right it.”

At 10:35 a.m., members of Station 5 responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 28 and Highway 660, east of Bonnyville.

Four occupants were assessed by EMS, but none were transported to hospital, confirmed Heney, adding that both vehicles have been towed from the scene.

At 12:45 p.m., Station 3 Glendon responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 660 near Range Road 485. No update was provided on the occupants of either vehicle involved in the incident.

BFRA crews from Station 4 Iron River and Station 6 La Corey also responded to a Medical Assist call near Township 630 and Range Road 442, today at 1:40 p.m.

Heney was not able to provide further details on the medical assistance due to patient privacy laws.

By the end of the day Thurday, RCMP S/Sgt. Sarah Park was able to confirm that RCMP members had attended several motor vehicle collisions on Jan. 3.

"Poor winter driving conditions were a factor in all of them," Park told Lakeland This Week in a statement.
