Bonnyville RCMP respond to stabbing at residence

The week before Christmas RCMP responded to some serious incidents, including a stabbing and break and enter.

BONNYVILLE – The week before Christmas, Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 140 investigations. Of those investigations the most serious incidents RCMP responded to was a reported stabbing at a residence, vehicle theft, and the break and enter of a business. 

On Dec. 19 at 1:50 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP received a call of an alleged stabbing at a residence.  

When police attended the residence, they arrested a female suspect connected to the reported stabbing, who was suspected of being intoxicated. 

A male victim was taken to hospital via ambulance for medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries, according to RCMP. 

The woman faces charges of aggravated assault and was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.  

She was released by a Justice of the Peace to attend court on Jan. 25. 

Multiple arrests after break and enter 

On Dec. 21 at 9:40 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP received a call of break and enter to a business. The general location of the incident was not provided by RCMP. 

According to the RCMP media release, two suspects were in the area and when police arrived on scene.  

“The suspects fled on a side-by-side before getting stuck,” reads the statement. 

A man and woman were arrested and held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing in connection to the break and enter of the business and possession of property obtained by crime. 

The side-by-side involved in the incident was found to have been stolen from an unrelated occurrence, say police. 

The woman was charged with resisting arrest, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, break and enter to business, and theft and possession of a controlled substance.  

She was released and scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 25.  

The Justice of the Peace remanded the man into custody until Jan. 6. He is facing charges of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, resisting arrest, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and break and enter to business. 

Discovery of a stolen vehicle 

On Dec. 20 at 9 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP located a stolen vehicle within the Town of Bonnyville.  

An investigation led to the arrest of a man and woman in connection to the vehicle’s theft. 

RCMP have filed charges against the man for possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and nine counts of failing to comply with release conditions.  

He had been remanded into custody until Dec. 23. 

The woman was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failing to comply with release conditions. Her court date was not noted by RCMP.
