In 2021, Bonnvyille RCMP, MD peace officers, Santa Claus and for the first time, the BRFA members helped collect community donations for the annual Pack the Police Cruiser donation drive.

BONNYVILLE – It goes by many names – Pack the police car. Stuff the squad car. Cram the cruiser – but the main thing Bonnyville RCMP members hope is that residents will help fill local food banks’ shelves with donations.

On Dec. 16, Bonnyville RCMP and partners will be at the Sobey’s parking lot in Bonnyville with an empty police cruiser collecting donations from noon until 3 p.m.

Members are asking residents to donate non-perishable food items to help support families in need this Christmas season.

Last year, community members helped pack two squad cars with goods weighing over 4,200 lbs and hundreds of dollars' worth of grocery gift cards.

Items often needed by food banks that are generally forgotten are diapers and toiletries for men and women, Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke told Lakeland This Week at last year’s pack the police car event.
