The Boscombe 4-H multi club held its annual communication event, which includes member speeches and presentations. The event was on Feb. 9 at Boscombe Community hall with nine members competing and two members being the master of ceremonies (Braxton Michaud, and Kennedy Hebert) for the event.

This event is when each member has the opportunity to write and or present a speech of their choosing. The communications event included juniors, intermediates and seniors. This year, we had a variety of speeches, which included learning about different kinds of pets, hobbies and interests of the members.

Every year the speeches seem to get better and better. With each new 4-H year come new ideas. For this day, all members have worked so hard in preparing their speeches.

Our 4-H members volunteers and families dedication makes this event a success every year. It is always such a pleasure to see all the grandparents, parents, friends and other family members there to cheer on the members.

We would like to thank our judges Ryan Stinn, Oralee Williams, Laurent Amyotte, Penny Fox, Kellie Handford, and Natalie Stinn for volunteering their time.  We would also like to thank our sponsor, Altalink.

Results from the day are as follows:

Intermediate: Dawson Dechaine won first place with his speech “100cc,” Jayci Marcoux took second place with her speech “Importance of Athletics,” and Madison Wrista received third with her speech “Service is in their blood.”n

Junior: Emma-Anne Miller won first place with a speech called “Egg and Egg incubatiom,” Miley Michaud received second place with her speech “Life of a hedgehog,” and Dagne St. Arnault was third with her speech “I need a vacation.”

I would like to congratulate all the members on competing and wish all the members competing at districts (on March 1) the best of luck.
