BONNYVILLE – On April 3 at about 6 p.m., the Bonnyville RCMP detachment began receiving multiple calls of an alleged intoxicated driver almost hitting people and driving dangerously.
A member patrolled and located the vehicle, which fled from police, stated the RCMP in a press release.
The vehicle was located a short time later in Kehewin Cree Nation and found to have a loaded firearm inside, according to police.
A 33-year-old woman from Saddle Lake was arrested and charged with 15 different Criminal Code Charges including flight from a police officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving while impaired, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of stolen property.
She is also facing offences relating to the loaded firearm (x5) reported to be in her possession, failing to comply with a Release Order (x4), and one count of failing to comply with probation.
The 33-year-old was brought before a Justice of the Peace who remanded her into custody until her first court appearance on April 19.
Man charged under Liquor and Cannabis Act
As an RCMP member was departing the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment’s parking lot on April 7 at 2 a.m., an eastbound vehicle that allegedly sped past at a high rate of speed.
The officer initiated a traffic stop with the driver who was found to have alcohol within easy reach, according to RCMP.
The driver was charged under the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act and was additionally fined $120.
