ST. PAUL - Despite being ahead early on, it would take six games for the St. Paul Canadiens to wrap up the series against the Wainwright Bisons and claim a spot in the NEAJBHL finals.

The two teams battled it out on Tuesday night at the Clancy Richard Arena in St. Paul. The game was tight, and the first period would see the game tied 0-0. The Canadiens opened scoring in the second period, and later netted a second goal. But, the Bisons would fight back, tying the game at 2-2.

The fans at the Clancy Richard Arena were in for a treat though Tuesday night, and as the game-winning goal was scored, the crowd erupted. A penalty for too many men on the ice late in the third period against the Bisons would help seal the game for the Canadiens (3-2).

After the game, Canadiens Coach Shawn Germain said he was "very proud" of his team for closing out the series against a very good team.

"(The Wainwright Bisons are) a very phenomenal organization and they gave us everything we could handle," said Germain.

He added that goalie Canadiens Hayden Lyons was "spectacular" in net on Tuesday night, and the coach also gave credit to Nathan Degraves for an exceptional game.

The Canadiens will now take on the Lac La Biche Clippers in the NEAJBHL finals. The Clippers beat the Cold Lake Ice four games to one in the second round of playoffs.

"We look forward to facing another great team in Lac La Biche in the final," said Germain.

Schedule (CANCELLED)
