Canadiens tackle Tigers in exhibition games

NEAJBHL season to start Oct. 30

ST. PAUL - The St. Paul Jr. B Canadiens of the Northeastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League (NEAJBHL) took on the Vermilion Tigers in a couple of exhibition games that saw the Canadiens come out on top both times.

The team travelled to Vermilion on Oct. 17 where the Canadiens won by a score of 4-1. Then, the Canadiens welcomed the Tigers to the Clancy Richard Arena on Oct. 24, winning 6-2.

A modified regular season is set to being on Friday. Due to regulations in place around the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canadiens will only host a total of six home games. The Canadiens will once again take on the Tigers at the Clancy Richard Arena on Friday, with that game set to start at 7:30 p.m.

The following day, the Canadiens will travel to Vermilion for an 8 p.m. game. Then, the team will have to take a break until mid-November, when they meet up against the Lac La Biche Clippers in St. Paul on Nov. 15, followed by a game in Lac La Biche on Nov. 17.

The pandemic also affects the number of fans who can take in hockey games in person. Only 100 people are able to attend the games, which means tickets will be minimal. At Saturday's game, it was noted that due to families of players, volunteers, and billet families taking priority, the arena was already at the 100-person maximum.

Elsewhere in the league, the Cold Lake Ice will be taking on the Wainwright Bisons in the first weekend of play, and the Killam Wheat Kings will be taking on the Lloydminster Bandits.
