UPDATE: Collision on main street in St. Paul on Thursday fatal

ST. PAUL - RCMP have confirmed a two vehicle collision that occurred at about 1 p.m. on June 18 in St. Paul at the intersection of 50th Avenue and 42nd Street was fatal.

"Preliminary investigation has revealed a car stopped at the intersection and proceeded south to cross the street and was struck by a westbound truck on 50th Avenue," according to an RCMP media release.

Both adult female occupants in the car were brought to hospital with serious injuries.

"While at hospital, the 81-year-old female driver from Myrnam, Alta., was pronounced deceased," reads the release.

The adult male driver of the truck was not injured. 

"St. Paul RCMP, along with a RCMP Collision Analyst, continue to investigate and no charges are anticipated."

An accident along 50th Avenue in St. Paul, at the 42nd Street intersection has slowed traffic in the area.

Emergency crews are on scene. Please avoid the area if possible.
