Access points for many of Moose Lake’s popular destinations, such as Franchere Bay Provincial Recreation Area and the MD’s Pelican Point Park, will only be possible by travelling north on Range Road 474 from Highway 28, for the duration of construction on Thinlake River Bridge.

BONNYVILLE – Travellers north of Moose Lake wanting to access the lake’s west side are in store for an extra-long trek for the next few months.

Bridge replacement work for the Thinlake River Bridge is set to begin by Feb. 28 and is expected to last until April 30, according to the MD of Bonnyville.

The two-month project comes with a price tag of just over $2 million.

The upgrade will also require Range Road 474 to be closed at Highway 660 once construction on the bridge begins.

During that time, access points for many of Moose Lake’s popular destinations, such as Franchere Bay Provincial Recreation Area and the MD’s Pelican Point Park, will only be possible by travelling north on Range Road 474 from Highway 28.

The bridge located just south of the intersection at Highway 660 and Range Road 474 is a popular spot for fishing in the summer. Communications from the MD state that the project should be complete by the time camping season starts.
