Contract offered to new Lac La Biche County CAO

Name not released as part of new CAO contract offer

LAC LA BICHE - Months after Lac La Biche County councillors voted against continuing the one-year contract of their CAO, effectively terminating the job of Ken Van Buul, a new contract has been approved for the next administrative boss of the municipality.

Last week, following several closed-door meetings and candidate interviews, Lac La Biche County council voted unanimously in favour of extending "an offer of employment and contract to the successful candidate of the chief administrative officer position."

The name of the successful candidate was not released publicly.

Dan Small, who had been one of the municipality's associate CAOs, has been handling the responsibilities of the CAO position since Van Buul's departure last December.

Van Buul is now the CAO for the Town of Redwater.

Offering no further detail on the contract, the person, the pay or the timeframe, Lac La Biche County councillor Lorin Tkachuk was pleased with council's efforts to find the latest candidate.

"It's good that we are moving forward on that front," he said.

The CAO is the only direct municipal employee of council. The CAO oversees all administration in the municipal office.
