BONNYVILLE – Time is ticking down to donate toys to Bonnyville Centralized High School’s (BCHS) Santa’s Elves program.

BCHS works in collaboration with the Knights of Columbus’ Christmas grocery hamper project every year to add age-appropriate toys for the families who take part in the hamper program.

Community members will have until Dec. 7 to drop off new and unwrapped toys for children aged 0-17 at one of several bright red Santa’s Elves Drop Boxes in the Town of Bonnyville.

Monetary donations can be brought directly to BCHS. Cheques can be made out to “BCHS Santa’s Elves.”

Donation drop off locations include Ducharme Motors, Red Apple, Tellier, Home Hardware, Pharmasave and BCHS.

The Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs’ will also be collecting donations for the Santa’s Elves program during a Dec. 7 game at the RJ Lalonde Arena. Puck drop is at 2 p.m.

Each year, the Bonnyville high school receives an anonymous list of local families who are in need, explained Mark Centazzo, principal of BCHS.

BCHS students, staff and community members come together to wrap presents and prepare gift packages with the information provided for each hamper that is delivered to a home with babies, kids or teens.

Families in need of extra support this holiday season must apply to be a recipient of the Christmas hamper program before Dec. 2, through the Bonnyville Friendship Centre.

On Dec. 14, BCHS will be hosting a community wrapping party, just in time for the Knights of Columbus volunteers to deliver Christmas hampers and Christmas presents to families throughout the community.
