UPDATE: COVID-19 cases increase in St. Paul-Saddle Lake region

There are 17 confirmed cases in Saddle Lake, as of Sept. 18, and three cases have recovered.

LAKELAND - The overall number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Lakeland continues to increase, according to provincial numbers.

The St. Paul (Saddle Lake and surrounding County of St. Paul) was reporting 18 active cases of COVID-19, as of Friday evening, the highest in the region. The provincial map, when switch on to the local geographic area, noted that out of 24 confirmed cases in that region, 18 were still active.

The Bonnyville region was reporting four active cases of the virus on Friday morning. Smoky Lake region was reporting four active cases, and while Two Hills had five active cases on the map Friday morning, that number decreased to zero later in the day.

Lac La Biche and Cold Lake were both reporting zero active cases, according to the LGA map on Sept. 18.

Saddle Lake

According to information from Saddle Lake Cree Nation, there were 17 confirmed active cases of the virus in the community, as of Sept. 18. Residents are being encouraged to continue with social distancing, stay home as much as possible, and isolate when required.

Testing for COVID-19 is being done at the Saddle Lake Health Care Centre. Masks are also mandatory in all public places in the community.
