Crews respond to house fire in Beaver Lake

No injuries but house destroyed at Beaver Lake Cree Nation

On the afternoon of Thursday, April 18, crews from the Beaver Lake Fire Department and Lac La Biche County Fire Rescue Services responded to a house fire in the Beaver Lake Cree Nation.

According to Shane Bair, chief of the Beaver Lake Fire Department, the call came in at 1:40 p.m. Local RCMP and EMS personnel were also on the scene.

Bair explained that the fire started near the back of the house and spread up into the roof. While crews could enter the house and ensure all occupants made it out safely, the building itself was not salvageable.

“We were able to keep it contained to the roof and back wall but the home is a total loss,” Bair told the Lac La Biche Post newsroom.

As to the cause of this house fire, the Beaver Lake fire chief said the incident is still under investigation.
