Dozens turn out for a sunny day of cross-country skiing

On warm and and sunny Saturday, young and old turn up at the Bonnyville Splash Park take part in a free cross-country skiing lesson offered by the Bonnyville Nordic Ski Club.

BONNYVILLE – On Saturday afternoon, a large group of cross-country ski enthusiasts turned up at the Bonnyville Splash Park to participate in a free introductory lesson for the winter sport. 

The formal lesson and free equipment rentals – offered to any to anyone between the ages of four and 94 – were provided by the Bonnyville Nordic Ski Club (BNSC) and the club's instructors Les Parsons and Joad Clement. 

BNCS will be offering a second Free Ski Day on Saturday, Jan. 22 at Muriel Lake MD Park between 1-3 p.m. 

For those wanting to try out the sport but don’t have cross-country skis, they can borrow a pair from BNCS. The club is offering free rentals that can be taken out from the from the ACFA building (French Cultural Centre) from 11 - 12:30 p.m. on Saturday prior to the free cross-country ski lesson.
