The victim was transported to hospital and then by air ambulance to receive treatment for life-threatening injuries and he remains in an Edmonton hospital in stable condition.
The accused is a young offender and as such a name will not be released. The youth was released on conditions and will appear in St. Paul Provincial court on July 8.
Late Friday afternoon, Saddle Lake Band Council indicated via social media that Saddle Lake had been on lockdown for the second day in a row due to gun-related activities on the First Nation. At that time, a four-day vigil was announced “to take back our Nation from violent offenders,’’ reads the post. “Council is inviting concerned band members to come and talk, share and help with solutions. The sacred fire has been lit and will remain burning through this time.”
