LAKELAND - A weather warning is in effect for much of the Lakeland region tonight.

On Nov. 30, Environment Canada issues a freezing rain warning for a list of areas, ranging from St. Paul to Lac La Biche, and Bonnyville to Smoky Lake, and many areas in between and beyond.

"A band of freezing rain continues in north central Alberta," reads the release, which was updated just before 10 p.m., Tuesday night.

"This band of freezing rain will move eastward through the evening and taper off from west to east."

The warning says surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. It recommends motorists slow down driving in slippery conditions.

"Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance."
