GALLERY: National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration in Lac La Biche draws a large crowd

National Indigenous Peoples Day event at McArthur Park draws hundreds for outdoor activities on Tuesday.

Over 400 community members gathered at McArthur Park to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. Attendees enjoyed live music and a barbecue that included bannock and regular burgers alongside soup and beverages on the sunny afternoon from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Students from across the community also took a field trip to the park during the afternoon festivities—hosted by the Métis Nation of Alberta Region (MNA) 1—to participate in the various arts, crafts and activities on the outdoor grounds of the park.

Inside, artisans and curators sold apparel, jewellery and Indigenous art pieces to the large crowds that came to celebrate annual day.
