GLENDON - Tables filled with sweet treats and eager bidders made for a special night at Glendon School on Thursday.
The Junior/Senior High Leadership Team at Glendon School held the 12th annual Cake & Dish Auction on April 7, and with most items selling for well over $100, there was no doubt the event - which had been postponed for a couple years due to the pandemic - was a success.
Raising over $5,100 in one night, the highest bid for a single item was $1,125 for a delicious, Ukrainian poppy seed cake. This year, the event was open to donations of all kinds, not just cakes, which meant a few lucky supporters walked away with homemade cabbage rolls, and other savoury dishes.
Funds raised at the auction will be split three ways. A third of the money will support the work of the Leadership Team, while another third will support the people of Ukraine, and the last third will be donated to the Bonnyville SPCA.
The Leadership Team offered a special thanks to everyone in the community who participated in the auction in one form or another.
