Lac La Biche RCMP make Halloween bear spray arrest

Police arrest teen for 'bear spray' - but Halloween night was otherwise quiet

LAC LA BICHE - Lac La Biche RCMP and peace officers were reporting a relatively quiet and orderly Halloween night in the community, with the exception of an incident in the Dumasfield park involving a 14-year-old youth found in possession of a pepper spray canister.

The male youth was located in the park in the early evening and has been charged with several offences for carrying the restricted item.  Police say the teen wasn't dressed in any particular Halloween costume, the contents of the canister had not been discharged, and the  canister was disposed of by police when they youth was arrested.

With that exception, says Lac La Biche RCMP Staff Sgt Neil Bailey, it was a good patrol night for local officers. He said police patrolled the subdivisions and hamlets in the region, in conjunction with municipal peace officers,  making sure youngsters were safe and motorists were paying attention.

"It was a really good night... the rest of the Halloween night went very good," he said.
