Lakeland youth take part in Student Vote

Students from the area took part in the Student Vote program on May 26.

ST. PAUL - Glen Avon School and St. Paul Regional High School had students experience what voting in an election would be like to prepare them for the future.

The opportunity is offered through the Student Vote Alberta program, an experiential civic literacy program, organized by CIVIX. More than 1,300 schools from all 87 electoral divisions in the province had registered for the program.

According to information from CIVIX, participating schools received non-partisan educational materials, including ballots and voting equipment, to teach about government, election processes, and encourage research and discussion on issues and candidates.

The Student Vote Alberta results, including party seat counts, popular votes, and division-specific outcomes, will be released following the May 29 election.
