BONNYVILLE – Of the many calls the Bonnyville RCMP members had to deal with over the week of Feb. 11 to the 18, at least two incidences involved mischief.
On Feb. 12 at around 10 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP were called to a residence in between 47 St. and 45 St. along 45 Ave. to deal with an individual who was allegedly trying to fight with others and was refusing to leave the area.
When members arrived, the man’s behaviour did not change and he then tried fighting with police, according to RCMP.
The man was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
The 48-year-old man from Bonnyville is facing charges of assaulting a police officer and mischief under $5,000.
He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released to appear in court March 15.
Four days later, the local detachment was called to another incident related to mischief.
At 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 16, Bonnyville RCMP received a report that a man who was banned from entering a store, was going in and out of the building yelling at people.
Members attended the business and located the man.
The 50-year-old man from Kehewin was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.
He was held for a bail hearing and was released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court on March 15.
Sleeping, intoxicated and behind the wheel
While a member of the Bonnyville RCMP was patrolling Highway 28 at 5:45 a.m. on Feb. 13, the officer observed a vehicle parked and running at Range Road 464, just passed the bridge.
“The member observed the engine was running, headlights were on, and the driver was asleep behind the wheel,” stated RCMP.
The member also determined that the licence plate did not match the vehicle, according to RCMP.
A sobriety check was performed with the 44-year-old woman from Cold Lake, and she was reportedly determined to be intoxicated.
The vehicle and driver’s licence were both seized for three days.
The 44-year-old was issued a $300 fine under provincial sanctions and was additionally fined $324 for the misuse of a licence plate.
