'Monstrous' dill plants and a bountiful gardening season so far

BONNYVILLE - Nancy Ozero says that in her 77 years of life – many that have included gardening – she has never witnessed dill grow as large and strange as what she has growing in her garden this year.

BONNYVILLE - Nancy Ozero says that in her 77 years of life – many that have included gardening – she has never witnessed dill grow as large and strange as what she has growing in her garden this year.

The volunteer plant that comes up each year on its own now has heads that are at least 12 inches across, she says. Also, she has a plant that she describes as a “double-decker,” with plants growing on top of plants.

“I have never seen such a thing,” said Ozero, on Thursday, describing the "monstrous" plant.

Ozero says she’s been busy and this year’s gardening season so far is a much more bountiful one when compared to last year’s season. She has already started making pickles and has been busy picking cucumbers from her garden.

Her flowers are also “outstanding” this year.
