More signs on Lac La Biche Main Street

A sign of the (construction) times

From certain angles it can already look a little busy with signs along the Lac La Biche Main Street as this photo from our newsroom shows — but more signs will be up in the coming days as the next phase of the downtown construction project gets underway.

Lac La Biche County officials are urging residents to watch for detour and construction signs and to follow maps on the municipal website.

Like last year, the next phase of construction on the $32.5 million Main Street Revitalization project will see a portion of the downtown's main corridor blocked to vehicle and foot traffic. Large metal construction fences are expected to be set up in the coming weeks to cordon off an area along 101 Avenue from 102 Street to 101 Street.

The latest phase of the construction project is expected to last from April 23 to the end of October.

Following a rising number of complaints about trespassing and vandalism in the downtown area during last year's construction season, local police and peace officers will also be increasing downtown patrols as a sign of the times over the summer months.
