Music in the Forest is returning to Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park.

Alberta Parks officials say the popular concert series will return to the lakeside setting for a kick-off show in March featuring Edmonton-based singer-songwriter Maddie Storvold.

"We’re excited to re-launch our event series, Music in the Forest at Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park," says Alberta Parks' Jaclyn Denman, a visitor engagement coordinator in the region.

The first show will take place on March 9 inside the new Community Facility on the causeway leading into the island park.

The Music in the Forest program was a popular addition to camping season activities at the park for several years until COVID mandates halted the shows.

Starting in May and running to August, monthly shows will return, featuring a wide range of performers and musical styles. While the Storvold performance will take place in the Community Facility, the later shows will be in the Churchill Amphitheatre inside the park.

The summer lineup and schedules will be released in the coming weeks. Tickets for the March 9 show are available online through sidedooraccess.com.

"They are set with a flexible price, so we suggest $20 per ticket — as the majority of this goes back to the artist to help support their travel or stay, and performance —  but individuals can choose to pay more per ticket," said Denman.

There will be  80 tickets available for the Storvold's Music in the Forest show. If the tickets are not sold out in advance, there will be a limited amount available at the door.

Coffee in the park

The Lac La Biche Rotary Club is also part of this year's Music in the Park concert series. Members of the local club will be hosting a coffee bar at each performance.
