MYRNAM – The annual Myrnam Fun Days held on July 18 and 19 was all about bringing the community together, according to the Myrnam Agricultural Society.
Members of the community enjoyed a weekend filled with food, games, and camaraderie, according to Norm Gueutal, a member of the ag society's board.
"It was buzzing over here," he said.
Bob Myroniuk, president of the ag society, agreed and added that organizing the event takes a lot of work.
"A good volunteer involvement is needed to make things like this happen," said Myroniuk, but people showed up and the event was yet another success.
Gueutal and Myroniuk thanked everyone who came out, including friends and families who visited or came home to Myrnam to be part of the festivities.
Ag Society update
Asked for some updates on the work being done by the ag society, Myroniuk said he is thankful for the work that has been completed over the past few years, including some renovations done at the Myrnam Agricultural Society Arena.
The arena was built in 1979 and has been showing its age. But thanks to grants, some completed projects include lobby, dressing room, and ice surface upgrades at the arena. Lighting has also been improved.
Gueutal said operational costs, and insurance have been increasing, but the ag society - and the community - keep working together to ensure doors remain open by securing grants and doing fundraisers.
"It's really the community coming together," said Myroniuk, in agreement.
