ST. PAUL – The Town of St. Paul council is sending Coun. Ron Boisvert to attend the 25th Annual Fall Alberta CARE Conference from Sept.10 to 12 in Westlock.

Boisvert is appointed to the Evergreen Regional Waste Management Committee and the Citizen's Advisory for Waste & Recycling Committee.

The Alberta Coordinated Action for Recycling Enterprises (Alberta CARE) conference provides learning opportunities about waste management and environmental sustainability. Conference agenda include topics on managing plastics, updates on Circular Materials, and insights from the Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

Attendees can also expect discussions on operational challenges and opportunities to visit local facilities related to waste and agriculture, like the Westlock Regional Landfill.

Council will spend $2,200 for the conference, but costs might be lower if Boisvert shares transportation costs with a representative from a neighbouring municipality such as the County of St. Paul.

Council expects Boisvert to return with insight and information that could potentially help the town manage its waste and recycling efforts.
