Officers get 'pied' for a good cause

Numerous whipped pies were tossed at RCMP officers from the Bonnyville RCMP detachment who volunteered as targets to raise money for Bonnyville Victim Services during a community barbecue on June 10.

BONNYVILLE - Despite the rainy weather, a community barbecue held over the lunch hour on June 10, was a smashing success.

Numerous whipped pie were tossed at RCMP officers from the Bonnyville RCMP detachment who volunteered as targets to raise money for Bonnyville Victim Services (BVS).

In total, $200 was raised from the Pie Toss while $500 in donations was raised from the barbecue, according to Debbie Winstone, the program manager for BVS.

Officers who volunteered for the Pie Toss include S/Sgt. Sarah Parke, Sgt. Douglas MacFarland, Cpl. Kenneth Petruik and Cst. Darren Clarke.
