ST. PAUL - More than 160 families in the community were given a helping hand through this year's Community Christmas Hamper program, offered through the St. Paul Regional Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and its many partners.
St. Paul Regional FCSS Director Lynn Smid confirmed that 167 hampers were given out to support the community. Hampers were handed out on Dec. 20, and included both food and gifts.
Grocery stores, such as Cornerstone Co-op, Sobeys and Extra Foods, help make the program possible, along with community partners such as the Santa's Elves at St. Paul Regional High School, the Knights of Columbus, St. Paul 4-H Club, Alberta Treasury Branch, Bethel Family Worship Centre, St. Paul Fire Department, Town of St. Paul staff, and the St. Paul & District Lions Club - along with the many community members who donate to the program.
The Christmas hampers used to be spearheaded by the St. Paul Knights of Columbus, but due to challenges during the pandemic, the project was handed off to other community groups, that have successfully kept the program alive, helping those in need every holiday season.
