COLD LAKE – In an effort to keep the community safe and maximize the quality of investigations, Cold Lake RCMP is encouraging local businesses, and even private residences, to complete a voluntary video surveillance information form.

“All local businesses will be forwarded a standardized form created by the Cold Lake RCMP General Investigations Section,” according to Cold Lake RCMP.

Having standardized information of private surveillance cameras and the length of time footage is stored is expected to increase efficiency so police can obtain additional video footage to solve crime.

Businesses in the Cold Lake area that have not received a video surveillance information form and are interested in participating are encouraged to reach out to the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment by e-mail and request the PFD.

Local residents with home surveillance are also able sign-up for the initiative and provide their information.

“The surveillance footage initiative for local businesses and residences is voluntary and not mandatory,” emphasizes a press release by the RCMP.
