Lac La Biche RCMP are asking for the public's assistance as they continue to investigate what is believed to be an deliberately-started blaze at an unoccupied residence on the Beaver Lake Cree Nation.
Police and fire crews responded to the early morning fire call on Monday, January 2 at a property near the Spruce Point turnoff in the community.
RCMP Const. Cassandra Calverley said the call came in at about 1:20 that morning, reporting that a building was on fire.
Beaver Lake Fire Department and Lac La Biche Fire Services were also called to the scene. Firefighters couldn't save the structure that was fully engulfed in flames. Calverley said structure burned down to the foundation. Calverley said no one was physically injured in the incident.
The blaze is the latest of several structure fires in the area. Local RCMP at this time are not linking any of the previous fires to the latest investigation.
"Lac La Biche RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance if you have any information in relation to this incident — or identifying those responsible — please contact the Lac La Biche RCMP at 780-404-2500 or your local police," noted Calverley.
