RCMP investigating death of horse

Vermilion RCMP are looking into the death of a horse that appears to have been shot

A horse was found dead near Clandonald in late November. Police are investigating the incident and believe the animal was shot.

VERMILION - Vermilion RCMP are investigating the shooting death of a horse that happened sometime between Nov. 23 and Nov. 27, 2020.

On Nov. 30, Vermillion RMCP members responded to a property north of Highway 45 near Clandonald, Alta. 

Police located a dead horse and determined it had been shot using a firearm, according to RCMP.

"The owners advised there is an additional sorrel Belgian horse that is believed to have escaped through an open gate and is still missing."

Hunters have been known to use this property and may have mistaken the horse for another animal, according to RCMP.
