RCMP issue warrant for suspect in Buffalo Lake kidnapping case

Further updates expected

Boyle RCMP and Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit are continuing to search for a third person they believe was involved in a reported 'kidnapping' case on July 13.

Police arrested two Lac La Biche residents — Damion Quintal, 37, and Lindsey Boucher, also 37 — a short time after 29 year old Levi Cardinal was reportedly taken by force from a Buffalo Lake home.

RCMP have issued an arrest warrant for a third person, Lloyd Boudreau, 27, of Buffalo Lake, in connection to the incident.

Acting on information about a vehicle that may have been linked to the alleged kidnapping, police say they were involved in a short pursuit with a vehicle just hours after the investigation began. A  spike belt was used to disable the vehicle, and two occupants ran from the scene. They were located a short time later with the assistance of the RCMP's Police Dog Services.

Found with minor injuries

Police say Cardinal, the alleged kidnapping victim, was found the following day. They say the Lac La Biche man had suffered minor injuries. RCMP say the investigation around his alleged abduction and release are still under investigation.

Quintal and Boucher have both been arrested and held in custody, facing several charges each, including break and enter, robbery with a firearm and forcible confinement.

Boudreau, already on a Canada-wide warrant for parole violations, is facing similar charges.

Quintal and Boucher are scheduled to make their first court appearances on these matters this week.

Long run

Boudreau was once on the run from police for more than a year after being charged with first degree murder in the October 2017 shooting death of a Lac La Biche man. The husband and father of three was shot when he responded to a noise at the front door of his Lac La Biche home. Boudreau remained on the loose until his capture in January of 2019. Although a preliminary hearing in relation to those charges was scheduled for September of 2019, the results of the proceedings could not been verified by publication deadline.

RCMP say Boudreau should not be approached if spotted. They advise anyone with information to contact their local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Lloyd Wesley Boudreau is described as:

· Medium complexion · 5’7” · 185 pounds · Black hair · Brown eyes· Tattoos on arms, neck, and face
