RCMP recover stolen Vermilion vehicle in Bonnyville, suspect arrested

A 41-year-old Bonnyville man was charged with several criminal code offences after RCMP officers from the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit located a suspect vehicle at a Bonnyville property that was stolen from the vermillion area and had been allegedly used for criminal activities.

BONNYVILLE – While on patrol in the Town of Bonnyville on Nov. 3, RCMP officers from the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit and the Bonnyville detachment located a suspect vehicle that they recognized as being involved in recent criminal activity. 

The suspect vehicle was involved in a flight from police incident, and it was also determined to have been stolen from the Vermilion area, according to RCMP.

“Police surrounded a residential property where a lone male suspect was arrested and taken into custody,” said RCMP. 

Bonnyville resident Robert John Poole, 41, was charged with several criminal code offences. 

Poole was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, altering/destroying/removing a vehicle identification number, flight from Police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, and common nuisance endangering life. 

The 41-year-old was held for a judicial interim release hearing where he was later released by a Justice of the Peace on a cash bail release order with conditions.  

Poole is scheduled to attend Bonnyville Provincial Court on Dec. 6.
