BONNYVILLE – On Nov. 5, Bonnyville RCMP were called to attend a residential complex on the 4800 block of 66 St. located on the southwest end of Bonnyville to address a report of squatters.
According to RCMP, “One of the rooms was supposed to be vacant, but it was believed there were squatters inside.”
When members attended the call, they located and arrested two suspects inside the room.
A 37-year-old from Cold Lake was charged with unlawfully dwelling in a house. The man is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Jan. 25.
No information was provided on the second individual arrested in the incident.
Early morning traffic stop leads to impaired driving charges
On Nov. 7 at 1:30 a.m., a member of Bonnyville RCMP initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle that had been swerving.
Police say, “the driver failed a mandatory alcohol screening test and was charged under provincial sanctions for impaired driving.”
RCMP members found the vehicle to be uninsured and was towed from the scene.
The driver was also charged with operating an uninsured vehicle, states the report released by RCMP.
RCMP respond to report of assault
On Nov. 9 at 5:30 p.m., RCMP received a complaint that a woman was assaulted by two others at her residence in Kehewin.
According to RCMP, when members attended the residence, “they immediately noted facial and other injuries to the victim.”
Bonnyville RCMP located, arrested and charged a 41-year-old woman from Kehewin in relation to the incident. The woman is set to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Nov. 23.
“Another arrest warrant is being sought for a 22-year-old woman from Whitefish (Goodfish) Lake First Nation,” states the RCMP report.
Thefts and significant property damage reported
On Nov. 9, the Bonnyville RCMP received a report of a large rural residential shop being broken into where the suspect(s) violently “rammed” two large bay doors causing significant damage to the structure.
RCMP have attended the scene located along Range Road 461 near Township Road 613, and continue their investigation into the matter.
Overnight on Nov. 10, an unoccupied house under renovation on Highway 659 near Range Road 453 was broken into.
According to RCMP, “the door was opened and a window had been broken. The culprit(s) stole a dishwasher, extension cords and other personal items.”
Between Nov. 10-12, someone cut the fence and entered the yard of a business located between 51 St. and 54 St. along 55 Ave. No other information was released by RCMP on the matter.
