ASHMONT - St. Paul RCMP were involved in a search in the Ashmont area Monday after receiving a report that a man wanted in connection with the murder of a Grande Prairie resident last year had possibly been spotted in the area.

Alberta RCMP have an arrest warrant for Adam Pearson, 26, for first degree murder in connection with the death of Cody Michaloski, 28, whose body was discovered in a Grande Prairie apartment building in October.

"We did receive some information on a possible sighting of Mr. Pearson in the area and we had resources trying to confirm whether it was him or not," Sgt. David Graham of the St. Paul RCMP Detachment confirmed Tuesday.

No additional information was provided on the local search.

On May 27,  RCMP arrested Benjamin Pearson, 25, of Kelowna. He is also facing a first degree murder charge in connection with the case.
