SPAA wraps up league volleyball play

ST. PAUL - The St. Paul Athletics Association (SPAA) has wrapped up regular league play for the senior high volleyball season on Wednesday night. Teams across the area gathered at various schools to play in the last regular season matches.

Elk Point's FG Miller teams, along with Glendon School's boys' and girls' teams made the trip to St. Paul Regional High School, where the St. Paul SPAA teams also played.

On the boys' side, it was tight, with teams battling back and forth for the last few points of the season. On the girls' side, Glendon was unable to grab a win, but the FG Miller and Regional High School teams found success on the court.

Teams also played in Mallaig and Myrnam on Wednesday night.

Heading into the SPAA championship, which is scheduled for Nov. 16, the FG Miller girls are in first place, followed by Two Hills in second, and St. Paul Regional High School in third place. On the boys' side, Two Hills is in first place with a perfect record, and St. Paul Regional High School is in second place, followed by Mallaig in third.

A number of local schools will also move on to compete at Northeast Alberta Schools' Athletic Association (NEASAA) zones, later this month.
