Stolen: Fort Mac police searching for X-ray machine

X-ray machine valued at $50,000

Wood Buffalo RCMP are hoping to expose the theives involved in a vehicle smash-and-grab from late summer that has resulted in a $50,000 industrial x-ray machine being stolen. They are now asking residents who may have seen something, or been offered the equipment to contact their Fort McMurray offices. 

In a news releases issued on October 1, Wood Buffalo RCMP say they are continuing to investigate an  August 26 report a vehicle with damage to a window in the parking lot of residences along Eagle Ridge Boulevard between Confederation Way and Loutit Road. The incident is reported to have occurred between August 25, 2020 around 11:00 p.m. and August 26, 2020 around 6:30 a.m. After the suspect(s) gained entry to the vehicle various items were stolen, including a portable x-ray machine valued around $50,000.00. Wood Buffalo RCMP have this information for the portable x-ray machine that was stolen and would appreciate your assistance in locating this unit. 

The equipment is used for industrial mining and exporation for the chemical and mineral analysis of rocks and earth.

Police are seeking to obtain video surveillance to help solve this crime. If you have not yet been contacted by police and heard or witness anything in the parking lot, or if you have dash camera or surveillance camera footage, during the hours listed above that may help police solve this crime, please contact the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040. 

Not only are police enouraging witnesses to come forward, they are also urging the thieves to turn themselves in due to the significant value of the stolen equipment.

"If you were involved in this crime and wish to turn yourself in, you may attend the Wood Buffalo RCMP Detachment at 105 Paquette Drive, in Fort McMurray, or to your local police," states the news release issued by the Wood Buffalo RCMP on Thursday morning.
