ST. PAUL - After conducting foot patrols due to an increase in property crime happening in town at night, St. Paul RCMP were able to arrest two men on outstanding warrants, Sept. 13.

The increase in property crime started after a Sept. 2 break and enter was reported at a local business located at 4721 52 Avenue, in St. Paul.

"Three males entered and stole numerous tools and vehicle keys. The business was able to provide RCMP with serial numbers for all stolen tools," according to RCMP.

During the foot patrols that took place, RCMP were able to identify "numerous people walking around at night."

Two men were ultimately arrested on outstanding warrants, and following a search of one of the men, police located stolen property belonging to the business that had been broken into on Sept. 2. That man was held in custody.

"RCMP were able to gather enough information to obtain a search warrant, which was executed alongside the Eastern Alberta district Rural Crime Reduction Unit on Sept. 15," according to police. "The search resulted in the recovery of numerous stolen tools. Because the business provided police with the serial numbers on their tools, the property was returned."

Nathan Johnathon Kingdon, 38, a resident of St. Paul was charged with possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime.  He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear on Oct. 20, in St. Paul Provincial Court.

With the increase in property crime files, RCMP are encouraging the public to record serial numbers of personal property, allowing police to more easily return any recovered stolen items.
