Suspect remains at large in connection to armed robbery in Bonnyville

Police have arrested two men in connection to an alleged armed robbery that occurred in the Town of Bonnyville on Jan. 19. A female suspect remains at large.

BONNYVILLE – Bonnyville RCMP members responded to a call of an armed robbery that had just occurred on the morning of Jan. 19 in the Town of Bonnyville. 

At 7:20 a.m., police were informed that a woman and two male suspects had allegedly entered a residence in the 5500 block of 55 St. and severely beat one of the residents with a weapon, then robbed him of his belongings and fled.  

With the assistance of Police Dog Services and the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, the Bonnyville RCMP located and arrested one of the male suspects within three hours of the original call at a residence in Kehewin.   

Police then sought and were granted an arrest warrant for the second male suspect who was located the next morning at a residence in Bonnyville.   

Stacey Moosepayo, 39, of Kehewin and 42-year-old Kristopher Funk of Bonnyville have both been charged with robbery with a firearm, assault causing bodily harm, breaking and entering, mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000, and possession of stolen property Under $5,000.   

Moosepayo was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. His first appearance in court is Jan. 24.  

A bail hearing had not been set for Funk at the time of publication    

The matter remains under investigation as police work to track down the female suspect.
