Suspicious activity leads to multiple arrests and seizure of sawed off shotgun

Members of the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit arrest an individual on a Canada-wide arrest warrant and find Kevlar body armour and a 20-gauge sawed off shotgun.

While conducting the arrest, police discovered one of the individuals was allegedly wearing Kevlar body armour and was also found to be in possession of a 20-gauge sawed off shotgun with ammunition. 

BONNYVLLE – On Dec. 9, at about 10:15 p.m., members from RCMP’s Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit (LCRU) were conducting patrols in residential areas in the Town of Bonnyville when they noticed activity they considered suspicious.  

According to RCMP, LCRU members observed “what appeared to be suspicious gang related activity that was taking place near a vehicle that was parked on the side of the road.” 

When police approached the occupants of the vehicle, they identified one man as being wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant.  

With the assistance from the Bonnyville General Investigation Section (GIS), police were able to arrest two individuals who were both reportedly wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.  

While conducting the arrest, police discovered that one of the individuals was allegedly wearing Kevlar body armour and was also found to be in possession of a 20-gauge sawed off shotgun with ammunition. 

Stacey Dustin Moosepayo, 38, of Kehewin was charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a firearm without a valid licence, unlawful possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, obstruction, failing to comply with firearm/weapons prohibition (x2), and unlawful possession of body armour. 

Brittney Lynn Fiddler, 20, of Frog Lake was charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a firearm without a valid licence, unlawful possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking (x2). 

Both Moosepayo and Fiddler were held for bail hearings.  

Moosepayo was remanded into custody by a Justice of the Peace and is scheduled to attend Bonnyville Provincial Court via CCTV on Jan. 4.  

Fiddler was released by a Justice of the Peace on a $1,500-no cash release order and is scheduled to attend Bonnyville Provincial Court on Jan. 4, as well.
