ST. PAUL - Team Zarowny Motors has retained their title after an impressive performance at this year's Walk a Mile in her Shoes event, hosted by the Capella Centre as a fun way to create awareness around a very serious issue.
While the event has been done in a variety of ways in the past, this year organizers opted for a short relay race at the St. Paul AG Barn on Nov. 25. Teams of four men each put on red high heel shoes and dashed through the event. Teams showed up at pre-scheduled times, and COVID protocols were followed.
The winning time after each team competed was 26.98 seconds. The speedy race was completed by: John Chamberland, Chase Muirhead, Gilles Jean, and Stephen Buryn of Zarowny Motors.
The team came prepared and took the challenge seriously. Those involved say they hope more teams will come forward next year to take part in the cause.
Teams were also encouraged to collect pledges and fundraise for the Capella Centre. Funds go toward helping support women and children accessing services at the St. Paul-based women's shelter.
Other participating teams on Thursday included Team RCMP, Team RF Protection, and Team Town Council.
The St. Paul Ag Society provided space to run the event, and pledges are still being accepted and can be done online.
