BONNYVILLE – A tip of a stolen Dodge Ram truck by Lac La Biche RCMP led Bonnyville RCMP to locate and apprehend two out of three suspects wanted in connection to a business break-in within the MD of Bonnyville.

A third suspect from Lac La Biche was later apprehended by Fort Saskatchewan RCMP.

In the afternoon of Oct. 5, Bonnyville RCMP received a message from Lac La Biche RCMP to be on the lookout for a white truck that had been reported stolen in the Lac La Biche area earlier in the day.

Information received suggested that the truck may have been heading towards the Bonnyville area, according to an RCMP press release.

A member of the Bonnyville RCMP later located the stolen truck at rural business near Range Road 455 and Township Road 634.

Police Dog Services in the area were called in to assist in the matter, say police.

“One suspect was arrested at the onset while another suspect that had been hiding nearby gave himself up when he heard the police dog barking,” states an RCMP media release.

Sebastian Cardinal, 23, from Lac La Biche has been charged with breaking and entering a rural business in the MD of Bonnyville and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Cardinal was released on conditions and is set to appear in Bonnyville Court on Nov. 1.

He faces further charges stemming from Lac La Biche.

Corey Gladue, 30, from Island Lake First Nation, Sask., has been charged with breaking and entering a rural business in the MD of Bonnyville and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Gladue has been remanded in custody and appeared in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Oct. 11.

The 30-year-old is also facing charges out of Lac La Biche.

An arrest warrant was sought by Bonnyville RCMP for 40-year-old Calvin Ballantyne of Lac La Biche, the third suspect wanted in connection to the break-in.

Ballantyne was later arrested by the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP on Oct. 13.

The Lac La Biche man is facing charges of breaking and entering a rural business in the MD of Bonnyville, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and failing to comply with a release order.
