Three people charged in relation to shooting near Cold Lake

Charges have been laid against three individuals, including one 17-year-old, in relation to a shooting that occurred on July 10 in the area of the Cold Lake First Nations, which sent one man to hospital in serious condition.

COLD LAKE – Charges have been laid against three individuals in relation to a shooting that occurred on July 10 in the area of the Cold Lake First Nations. 

On the day of the incident, Cold Lake RCMP responded to a call of a man suffering several gunshot wounds. The man was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition.   

The Cold Lake General Investigations Section (GIS) conducted an investigation into the incident and on Aug. 24, laid charges against three individuals, including one minor. 

Those jointly charged in the shooting include Colton Rain Moyah, 20, a resident of Fishing Lake Métis Settlement, Cage Omeasoo, 18, a resident of Saddle Lake Cree Nation, and a 17-year-old male who cannot be identified. 

The three men face charges of attempted murder with a firearm, forcible confinement, robbery and possessing a firearm contrary to a prohibition order. 

All three individuals have been remanded into custody since July 10. 

Due to other criminal matters, they are next scheduled to appear in court on various court dates in September at St. Paul Provincial Court.
