LAC LA BICHE - Lac La Biche and District Chamber of Commerce officials say they are about 70 per cent sold out for Saturday night's (Nov. 12) Business Awards of Excellence.
The annual event — back after a COVID hiatus — has a long list of local and regional nominees in 11 categories. Approximately 50 businesses and services are nominated — many in multiple categories. The list comes from a nomination period that wrapped up several weeks ago and allowed businesses and service providers to self-nominate. All the nominations have been judged by outside, third-party members of chambers of commerce organizations around the province.
Lac La Biche Chamber executive director Karen Collins says none of the judges have connections to the local nominees.
The awards night takes over the Bold Center's Community Room on Saturday night. The event starts at 5pm with cocktails and a silent auction, and includes the awards, a dinner and musical entertainment by W.O.W We're One World, an Edmonton based band. The performers are billed as a Top40 variety show band. The band does have some Lac La Biche connections to the area as the drummer's dad was a school teacher in the 1970s.
Tickets for the show are $50 and are available at the Chamber office located in the Lac La Biche Museum and Visitor Information building. More details can be found by calling the Chamber office at 780-623-2818.
