LAKELAND - Conditions are favourable for funnel clouds across much of the Lakeland this afternoon according to a statement from Environment Canada.
“These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado,” reads the statement.
Any funnel cloud sighting should be taken seriously, and if one develops nearby you should take shelter.
