ST. PAUL - Both the Town of St. Paul CAO and the County of St. Paul CAO are in self-quarantine following recent trips out of the country.

On Friday afternoon, County of St. Paul CAO Sheila Kitz confirmed to the St. Paul Journal that she is in fact waiting for COVID-19 testing. Kitz returned from Jamaica on March 1, and was exhibiting some cold symptoms. She says she wanted to make sure the symptoms are nothing more than a cold.

"I called 811 on Wednesday and due to my situation of recently undergoing cancer treatment, the fact that I am asthmatic and am scheduled for a small surgery later this month, they felt that I should be tested," said Kitz, via email with the Journal. "So, I am currently working from home, attending a lot of meetings via phone, waiting to be tested. I am trying to ensure that I am not adding to the COVID-19 problem."

Town of St. Paul CAO Kim Heyman decided to return early from a holiday, and is among the many Albertans who have been told by the provincial government to self-quarantine due to travelling outside the country.

Town of St. Paul Mayor Maureen Miller noted that Heyman was not showing any signs of COVID-19, which Heyman also confirmed on March 16.

A meeting between local municipalities and emergency management was scheduled for Friday morning.
